About ByteShift

What is ByteShift?

ByteShift is a free, browser-based file conversion tool. Convert images, audio, video, PDFs, and more — all without installing anything or signing up for an account. File processing is designed to happen on your device. It’s designed to be fast, simple, and private by default.

Privacy-first by design

Your files never leave your device. Every conversion happens entirely in your browser using your own computer’s processing power. We don’t upload your files to ByteShift servers for conversion. We never see, store, or have any access to the contents of any file you convert.

No accounts, no sign-ups, no logins. You don’t need to give us your name, email address, or any other personal information to use ByteShift. Just open the page, choose your files, and convert.

Limited site data

ByteShift does not collect the contents of your files and does not require accounts. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics for cookieless, aggregate site-visit counts, plus standard hosting and security logs needed to run the site.

Ad-supported — not paywalled

ByteShift is free to use with no paywalls and no subscriptions. Browser memory, device storage, and tool-specific queue limits still apply. To cover hosting, domain, and infrastructure costs, we display a small number of advertisements via Google AdSense. We deliberately avoid intrusive formats: no pop-ups, no interstitials, and no auto-playing video ads. We do not sell or share your personal data or file contents with advertisers — because we don’t have any of that data in the first place.

Built on modern web technology

ByteShift is built with Next.js and uses modern browser APIs — including WebAssembly, Web Workers, and Streams — to run conversions entirely on the client side.
